Niskanen helps Capitals to 4th consecutive win

Matt Niskanen scored the tiebreaking goal with 3:22 remaining and the Capitals beat the New York Rangers 4-2 Friday night to move into a tie for first place with Columbus in the stacked Metropolitan Division.

Kings strike quickly in 5-2 victory over Capitals

Nine seconds was all the time it took for the Los Angeles Kings to spoil the Capitals' opening of a five-game homestand Thursday, all the time needed to score two goals on back-to-back shifts in a 5-2 win at Capital One Arena.

Landeskog's hat trick lifts Avalanche over Capitals

Gabriel Landeskog scored three goals - one on a penalty shot - for his first career hat trick, Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and four assists and the Colorado Avalanche made it a successful return from Sweden with a 6-2 win over the Washington Capitals on Thursday night.

MacLellan: Capitals are not in rebuilding mode

When he finally held his end-of-the-season news conference on Tuesday, Capitals GM Brian MacLellan said he couldn't single out one particular fix to get the Capitals closer to a championship. But blowing up the roster, he said, makes no sense.

Penguins chase Braden Holtby, beat Capitals to take 2-0 series lead

Phil Kessel scored twice, Sidney Crosby set up more goals and the Pittsburgh Penguins chased Braden Holtby on the way to a 6-2 victory over the Washington Capitals in Game 2 Saturday night that gave them a commanding 2-0 lead in their second-round series.
