POLLOCKSVILLE, N.C. (AP) - The wife of a North Carolina chief deputy has been arrested on multiple drug charges.
WITN-TV reports authorities say 42-year-old Amanda Taylor was arrested by the State Bureau of Investigation in Jones County. She is facing several charges, including two felony counts of trafficking opium/heroin. The SBI confirmed that Taylor is the wife of Jones County Chief Deputy Matthew Wineman.
The arrest warrant says Taylor had 28 grams or more of opiates and conspired with 37-year-old Michael Foley Jr. on June 20. Foley was arrested along with another man that day and accused of stealing 12,000 pills from a pharmacy. Officials haven’t said if Taylor had any connection with the robbery.
Taylor is jailed under a $500,000 bond. Her attorney didn’t immediately return a phone call seeking comment on Monday.
