RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina woman has pleaded guilty to several felonies in connection with the hit-and-run death of a cyclist last December.

WRAL in Raleigh reports 25-year-old Amy Ellen Franklin pleaded guilty in a Wake County courtroom on Wednesday to felony hit and run, felony death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired. Franklin was sentenced to between 51 to 75 months in prison in the death of 56-year-old Bryan Scott Goforth.

Police said Goforth was in the crosswalk on the west side of Raleigh last Dec. 14 when Franklin, who had a green light, hit him. Goforth was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers found Franklin trying to drive her disabled car. Police said Franklin admitted to drinking before driving, texting when she crashed and taking a Xanax pill.
