FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man who prosecutors say raped a teenage boy has been sentenced to 12 1/2 to 15 years in prison.
Aristedes Lopes, 62, of New Bedford pleaded guilty Monday to indictments charging him with rape of a child and kidnapping of a child under 16, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said in a statement.
The victim was photographing military bunkers at Fort Taber on June 13, 2017, when Lopes approached the victim and held him in the corner of a bunker at knife point and raped him, according to the statement.
When the rape was over, the victim used his cell phone to photograph the assailant. He also followed the suspect as he entered a car, which the victim also photographed.
Shortly after, the victim reported the rape to his family and was brought to the hospital for a rape examination. Police were also contacted at that time.
