FORT BRAGG, Calif. (AP) - The caretaker of a bedridden Mendocino County woman has been accused of neglecting her charge for so long officials say the woman’s body appeared emaciated and mummified.
The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/2hE42hS ) that a 56-year-old woman was charged Monday with felony elder abuse causing death and false imprisonment in connection to the death of Arlene Potts.
Neighbors identified Potts. She has not been formally identified.
Authorities discovered Potts’ body on Dec. 14 after neighbors complained about the smell coming from Potts’ apartment. The caretaker was arrested Friday when she returned to the apartment to submit paperwork.
