BALTIMORE (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to reduced charges in connection with the robbery and fatal stomping of a Baltimore man has been indicted on a federal gun charge.
A federal grand jury indicted 24-year-old Arthur Jeter on Thursday on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The charge carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Jeter was one of three people who pleaded guilty in the attack on Zachary Sowers, a financial analyst who was beaten and robbed in southeast Baltimore in 2007. Sowers died the following year after a lengthy coma. The attack was unusual for its random nature and its brutality - Sowers’ head was stomped against a curb.
Before Sowers died, Jeter pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to eight years.
