ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama woman is accused of embezzling more than $10,000 from her former employer, a propane company in Athens.

Al.com (https://bit.ly/2hulogO ) reports 38-year-old Ashley Baxley, of Athens, is accused of stealing the money while she worked as an office manager for United Propane from May to September.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Stephen Young said Wednesday company representatives reported Baxley would pocket cash when delivery drivers turned in customer payments. According to reports, Baxley apologized to the company in an email, stating that she was struggling with a drug habit.

Young says Baxley was charged with felony first-degree theft after investigators interviewed her. She’s being held in the county jail. Bond is set at $5,000. It was unknown if she’s represented by an attorney who could speak on her behalf.
