WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - Federal authorities have named an interim top prosecutor for the northern district of West Virginia.
Betsy Steinfeld Jividen will be acting U.S. attorney starting Jan. 1 following the resignation of William Ihlenfeld, who was appointed six years ago by President Barack Obama.
She has been first assistant in the federal prosecutors’ office in West Virginia since 2010.
She previously filled the top post from September 2009 to April 2010.
Ihlenfeld says he’s returning to private practice.
Republican President-elect Donald Trump is expected to choose his own slate of top federal prosecutors in offices around the nation, though some may stay on.
Jividen is a Wheeling native and 1980 graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law.
