MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Police say the suspect in a shooting outside a Mesa bar now is facing a second-degree murder charge after the victim died.
They say 28-year-old Daniel Christopher Westberg is accused of shooting John Stewart Jr. in the parking lot of the Office Sports Bar around 1 a.m. on Nov. 21.
Police say Westberg then went inside the bar and asked people to call 911 because he had shot someone.
He was later arrested on suspicion of one count of aggravated assault.
Police say the 42-year-old Stewart was taken to a hospital, where he died on Nov. 23.
Because of that, police say the charge against Westberg was upgraded on Monday.
It was unclear Tuesday if Westberg has a lawyer.
