VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - The suspect who police say was shot after trying to hit an officer with his vehicle has been released from the hospital.

The Vancouver Police Department says Dominic Tovar was booked into the Clark County Jail Tuesday on five charges, including assault, attempting to elude police and hit and run.

Police and a Washington Department of Corrections officer tried to apprehend Tovar on Saturday. Police say when officers made contact, Tovar tried to hit the officer with his vehicle.

The officer shot at Tovar, who then fled, hitting another vehicle.

He was captured after he fled on foot.

Police say he was wanted for missing an appointment at the Vancouver Community Correction’s office.

The two people in the vehicle that Tovar hit were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
