BURLINGTON, Wash. (AP) - A 23-year-old man shot to death Friday north of Seattle in Burlington has been identified as Douglas J. Gunter.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports Gunter was shot while sitting in his vehicle at the Skagit Big Mini Mart.
Authorities say a warrant has been issued for the arrest of suspect Christian Flores, 19.
An affidavit of probable caused filed Monday in Skagit County Superior Court says Flores earlier in the day contacted an ex-girlfriend demanding she come and see him. If she did not, the girl reported, he said he was going to kill an innocent person, documents said. Flores arrived at the Burlington store in a Ford Explorer and as he left the store, Gunter pulled up, documents said.. Court documents say Flores walked up to the car, took a gun from his shorts and fired at Gunter. Gunter died that day.
After fleeing to a nearby apartment complex, court documents say Flores left with a man he had asked for a ride. Flores has been charged in Skagit County Superior Court with first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm enhancement.
