Police say a Phoenix man has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother after an argument about the family dog.

They say 47-year-old Terry Driescher Jr. was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder.

It was unclear Sunday if Driescher has a lawyer yet.

Driescher is accused of fatally stabbing his 68-year-old mother in the driveway of their home around 10 a.m. Saturday.

The woman was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Her name hasn’t been released yet by police.

Phoenix police tried to talk to Driescher after he retreated into the home and later called SWAT to serve a search warrant.

They say officers found Driescher inside the home and arrested him.
