RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina man has been accused by police of killing three people.
The Raleigh News & Observer reported Tuesday that Evan Hunter Small, 27, is accused of killing Patricia Brewton Small, 79, Jimmy Wayne Small Sr., 80, and Jimmy Wayne Small Jr., 58.
A news release from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office did not describe Small’s relationship to the three alleged victims. The News & Observer had not received a response to a question about Small’s relationship to them from police or the sheriff’s office.
Small has been charged with three counts of murder. He is being held in the Wake County Detention Center. It’s unclear if he’s hired an attorney.
A 911 caller had asked police to check on the three victims on Monday. The person said that he or she was usually in contact with the Smalls two or three times a week.
“The incidents are not random, and there is not an on-going public safety concern,” the Raleigh Police Department said in a statement before Evan Small’s arrest.
The Wake County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Small was arrested after a brief chase close to Wake Forest. Authorities said he struck a Raleigh police officer’s car.
