A Dundalk man pleaded guilty Tuesday to defacing headstones in a Jewish cemetery with swastikas and other antisemitic symbols.
George Horn, 36, went to the Ohr Knesseth Israel Anshe Sfard Cemetery, established in Dundalk in the 19th century, in July 2023. Horn used black spray paint on 12 gravestones, some of which had to be replaced due to the damage, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland said.
Pictures posted online by the U.S. attorney’s office show some of the headstones defaced with black swastikas facing to the left; the swastikas used by the Nazis faced to the right. Horn admitted that he vandalized the graveyard because it is a Jewish cemetery.

During searches of his car, storage unit and phone, investigators found antisemitic materials.
Federal prosecutors said the materials included a journal referencing Nazi and White supremacist ideology, a video clip of him spray-painting the headstones and a translated copy of “Mein Kampf,” the autobiography of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.
Horn was charged with defacing religious property, and faces up to three years in prison on those charges, the U.S. attorney’s office said. Horn is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 14, 2027.
