WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - A Winston-Salem man has been sentenced to at least 20 years in prison for shooting and killing a neighbor with whom he had been feuding.
Local media outlets reported that 50-year-old Jose Augustiniano Rodriguez pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder.
Rodriguez was charged with shooting and killing 54-year-old Genaro Mariche Bracamontes two years ago.
Forsyth County prosecutors said Rodriguez shot Bracamontes and then punched and kicked the man as he died.
Rodriguez was initially charged with first-degree murder. He pleaded guilty to the lesser charge in a plea deal with prosecutors. He was sentenced to between 20 and 25 years in prison.
Prosecutors said the men had been arguing for years and each had threatened to kill the other.
