RENO, Nev. (AP) - A Reno man faces up to 40 years in prison after he was convicted of crashing into an 11-year-old girl on a bicycle while he was speeding drunk through a trailer park.

Washoe County prosecutors say 37-year-old Jose Lugo-Gutierrez was found guilty last week of driving under the influence causing substantial bodily harm and failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving an injury.

Police say the girl was riding her bike in front of her home in south Kietzke Lane trailer park when she was struck last August.

Investigators say the girl’s father had yelled at Lugo-Gutierrez to slow down just before the accident that hospitalized her with a concussion.

Lugo-Gutierrez drove away but later was arrested. Police say his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. Sentencing is set for May 3.
