MANCHESTER, Iowa (AP) - A man who authorities say shot at his landlord and a police officer has been arrested in eastern Iowa’s Delaware County.

Court records say Kenneth Noble, 33, is charged with two counts of attempted murder. He remained in custody Friday, jail records said. His attorney didn’t immediately return a call from The Associated Press. Noble’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 28.

A landlord in Manchester had asked for an officer to stand by while the landlord entered an apartment Thursday morning to make repairs, police said in a news release.

A man later identified as Noble was inside the apartment. He shot at the landlord, who was narrowly missed by a bullet that whizzed by his head, police said. Manchester Police Capt. Rick Carnicle then moved in but also was shot at, police said. He fired back.

Neither man was was hit, police said, and Noble was taken into custody.
