WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A previously convicted sex offender in Delaware has been found guilty of raping three women over seven years.

The Delaware News Journal reports Superior Court Judge Paul R. Wallace found 40-year-old Kili Mayfield guilty of rape, assault, strangulation and kidnapping Tuesday.

The paper reports their investigation turned up records that show two of the rapes reportedly took place after state officials failed to enter his DNA into a database of sex offenders. Mayfield was convicted of attempted unlawful sexual contact in 2001, but the paper says records show his DNA wasn’t entered into the database until 2014, after two rapes he was convicted of reportedly occurred.

Mayfield represented himself and said the charges were due to misconduct by authorities.

Mayfield could face life in prison when sentenced in November.
