CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in North Carolina say a man parked a minivan on a busy interstate to trap a driver and steal their vehicle.
News outlets report deputies in Iredell County say a woman stopped to avoid hitting the minivan last Monday along Interstate 77. The woman told deputies the man was standing next to her car with a long metal pipe. The man, later identified as 48-year-old Landis Darnell Glaspy, is accused of opening her car door, throwing her onto the median and driving away with her car.
Deputies say Glaspy was fleeing from multiple hit-and-run collisions he allegedly caused on N.C. 901 near I-77.
Glaspy was arrested Tuesday. He’s charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault. It’s unclear whether he had an attorney who could comment.
