BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A former exotic dancer from Baton Rouge has pleaded guilty in the 1984 slaying of a Crowley businessman whose body has never been found.
The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1lDUDkG ) Leila Mulla pleaded guilty Thursday to manslaughter in exchange for a 30-year prison term.
The 48-year-old Mulla, of Astoria, N.Y., and 65-year-old Ronald Dunnagan, of Bossier City, were first arrested in Las Vegas in 1984 and accused of plotting to rob Gary Kergan. They were released in March 1985 after the district attorney declined to prosecute the pair because of a lack of evidence.
Prosecutor Dana Cummings said Mulla has agreed to cooperate with the state in the prosecution of Dunnagan. Dunnagan is not under indictment at this time.
The 34-year-old Kergan was last seen alive Nov. 29, 1984.
