MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - The Star City Volunteer Fire Department is denying allegations made by a former employee that he was harassed because of his ethnicity and fired for reporting it.
The Dominion Post of Morgantown reports (https://bit.ly/2fmoX8c ) that Leonel Caso’s lawsuit filed in Monongalia County Circuit Court claims he was called derogatory terms because of his Hispanic heritage.
Caso says when he reported the incidents to supervisors he was told to resign or be fired. Caso said he ended up quitting his job to avoid being publicly terminated.
It its response to the lawsuit, the department seeks to have the lawsuit dismissed, arguing that there was no intentional wrongdoing and that all actions against Caso were legitimate and non-discriminatory.
