HARTWELL, Ga. (AP) - Sheriff’s officials in northeast Georgia say a woman and the owner of the restaurant she worked at were fatally shot by her ex-husband before he turned the gun on himself.
Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland tells Morris News Service 40-year-old Jason Forkin was fatally shot at his restaurant near Lake Hartwell on Sunday night. Cleveland says two restaurant employees told him their 38-year-old co-worker, Laurie Chumley, had been abducted by her ex-husband, Sammy Chumley, after the shooting.
Cleveland says investigators tracked Chumley’s ex-husband to a home he once lived in and found him and his ex-wife dead in a parked car. Authorities say each of them had been shot in the head.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is probing the incident.
