KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) - A Hudson Valley man has been convicted of beating his father to death with a baseball bat.

An Ulster County jury found Nicholas Pascarella Jr. guilty of the 2014 slaying of his father on Tuesday, six months after his first trial ended in a hung jury.

The 41-year-old Clintondale man was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of Nicholas Pascarella Sr. of Marlborough. The defense had claimed that the younger Pascarella was suffering from extreme emotional disturbance when he attacked his father.

In statements to police, Pascarella said he was angry because his father had sexually abused him and other relatives.
