WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - A Waterloo man has been given 20 years in prison for stabbing to death his father.

Court records say 28-year-old Rashod Aldridge was sentenced Monday.

He’d entered Alford pleas to charges of voluntary manslaughter and two counts of going armed with intent. Under an Alford plea, a defendant maintains innocence but acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence for conviction. He’d been charged with second-degree murder.

Authorities say he killed 50-year-old Roosevelt Aldridge on March 20, 2015, at the Waterloo home they shared.
