NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) - Authorities say a 55-year-old North Salt Lake woman is accused of killing her husband in 2018 because she feared he’d turn her into authorities for fraud.
Cynthia Knight-Christensen was jailed Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated murder and obstruction of justice in the shooting death of 67-year-old Reed Christensen at their home.
A probable cause affidavit said Knight-Christensen gave conflicting statements to investigators and that witnesses said the couple argued before the shooting.
It said investigators learned that Knight-Christensen told acquaintances she was worried because her husband had evidence of her alleged financial criminal activity related to identity theft.
Knight-Christensen has several fraud convictions, including one this year in Salt Lake County.
Attempts to get comment on behalf of Knight-Christensen were unsuccessful. Her attorney’s office was closed Friday.
