PLAINVILLE, Mass. (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to hitting a police officer with a car has been sentenced to six months in jail.

The Sun Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/2txaDOT ) that Robert Camara was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to charges including assault and battery with dangerous weapon.

Police say Camara stole $340 worth of DVDs from a Target store in Plainville in January. Plainville Officer Todd Holbrook approached him as he got in his car. Police say Camara drove into the officer, knocking him onto the hood of the car before he fell to the ground.



Holbrook was treated for leg and knee injuries.

Camara was later arrested at his Attleboro home. He has been in jail since January and will receive credit for time served.
