AUBURN, Maine (AP) - A store employee in Maine was charged with setting fire to a couch in a storage area while the store was open, the state fire marshal’s office said.

Ryan Graffam, 22, was arrested Monday and charged with arson. Police accused him of setting fire to a couch in the back of a Big Lots store in Auburn on Saturday and then putting the fire out. Employees evacuated the store. No one was hurt.

The couch was destroyed and two others stored nearby were damaged.

Graffam was interviewed outside his home Monday night. He was being held in the Androscoggin County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. His court appearance was pending. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
