CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - An arrest has been made in the slaying of a 64-year-old man in Charlotte last fall.
Local media outlets report that police say 24-year-old Samuel Antoine Smith Jr. was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with murder in the death of Larry Dean Bowden.
Police say officers found Bowden injured and lying in the road on Oct. 5. He was taken to a hospital, where he died Oct. 30.
Police say the medical examiner’s office determined that Bowden died as the result of an assault on the day he was found.
Authorities have not released a motive in the killing.
It’s unclear if Smith has an attorney.
