PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in north central Arizona say a domestic violence suspect who had two small explosive devices attached to his body has been arrested in Black Canyon City.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say bomb technicians were able to approach 54-year-old Scott Wayne and render the improvised explosive devices safe.

The situation began about 8 a.m. Sunday when deputies responded to a domestic violence incident.

They say Wayne had a felony aggravated assault warrant in California.

An Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter crew later spotted Wayne trying to hide in a river bed area and bomb squad technicians were called in.

Wayne also had a gun and two knives when he was taken into custody around 5 p.m. Sunday.

He’s been booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on numerous charges.
