PITTSBURGH (AP) - A man has been sentenced to two to five years in the shooting death of another man in a car on a western Pennsylvania interstate more than a year ago.
Twenty-year-old Keontre (kee-ON’-tray) Easley was sentenced Friday in Allegheny County on earlier pleas to involuntary manslaughter and a firearms charge in the August 2015 death of 24-year-old Shaka McGhie.
Prosecutors said McGhie had forced Easley and his girlfriend to drive in search of drug money he said he was owed and was killed in a struggle over a gun on Interstate 376 in Pittsburgh.
Defense attorney Casey White said Easley had been a promising student but fell into the “easy-money” life of guns and drugs. Easley apologized in court Friday, saying he hoped the victim’s family would someday forgive him.
