BRISTOL, Va. (AP) - A Virginia doctor accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting female patients during medical appointments has been indicted on sex crime charges.
A Bristol grand jury indicted Shannon Michael Finch, 47, on charges of forcible sodomy, attempted forcible sodomy and three counts of misdemeanor sexual battery Monday, The Bristol Herald-Courier reported.
Two women accused Finch of touching them inappropriately during appointments at his office dating back to 2016. In one of the cases, Bristol Virginia police had a victim wear audio and video equipment to a subsequent visit in 2018, and obtained video evidence of Finch sexually touching her again, police documents and news outlets reported. Police charged him shortly afterward and another victim came forward, WCYB-TV reported.
The Virginia Board of Medicine revoked Finch’s medical license in 2018 and noted in its ruling that two patients had accused Finch of repeated abuse during visits.
