SYLVANIA, Ala. (AP) - A former Alabama lawyer was arrested and accused of property theft, authorities said.

Teresa Darwin Phillips, 40, of Sylvania was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of first-degree theft of property, news outlets reported.

Phillips is a former DeKalb County lawyer.

The arrest stems from a joint investigation between the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Payne Police Department and the district attorney’s office.

Details surrounding the charge weren’t immediately released. It’s unclear whether Phillips had an attorney who could comment on her behalf.
