ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - An Anchorage grand jury has indicted a 25-year-old man on murder and theft charges.
Trevon Allridge is charged with first- and second-degree murder in the death of auto mechanic William Schmaus at TreJohn Auto Sales in south Anchorage.
A criminal complaint does not list a possible motive.
Investigators say Allridge’s stepfather, Tracy Morning, was in the dealership at about 3 p.m. Nov. 15. He told police he heard a gunshot, saw Schmaus fall and saw Allridge putting handgun in his waistband.
Police arrested Allridge two blocks north of the dealership.
Allridge is jailed with bail set at $1 million.
Prosecutors say the theft charge stemmed from Allridge possessing a stolen firearm that was used to kill Schmaus.
Online court records do not list Allridge’s attorney in the murder case.
