  • Morning notes and lineups

    The big news this morning is obviously Bryce Harper being carted off the field during a minor league intrasquad game at the Nationals' training complex. Right now, Harper is listed as day-to-day with a left ankle sprain but it's more than likely that the Nationals will be running more tests and taking an X-ray.   • Gorzelanny solidifies role as fifth starter and other postgame notes

    Tom Gorzelanny threw 84 pitches in five innings of work, allowed four hits and two earned runs on a wind-aided home run to right field on Sunday in the Nationals' 6-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Space Coast Stadium. In the process, the left-hander solidified his place as the Nationals fifth starter. Published March 20 2011

When Henry Rodriguez entered the game in the ninth inning Thursday night, those readings began hitting numbers they had yet to display all game. It flashed 94, then 95, then 98 and topped out at 99.
