SEEN AND HEARD AT VERIZON CENTER

Washington Redskins coach Jim Zorn attended Game 2, sitting in the first row of Section 120 with special teams coach Danny Smith.

Zorn signed autographs before the game and was shown on the scoreboard during the first break in the action. The reception was mixed, but he got the crowd on his side when he and his wife, Joy, pleased the masses on “Kiss Cam.”

Ravens coach John Harbaugh - in Caps gear - was roundly booed when shown during the second period. …

A trip to ice level reveals a different game from the one reporters view from the press box. Watching the last four minutes of the first period from the Zamboni entrance revealed an incredible atmosphere, the traffic in front of Simeon Varlamov constant, how much the Caps’ penalty killers communicate and how small the ice surface is (200 feet by 85 feet). …

Speaking of Varlamov, more No. 40 jerseys are being worn, kids are painting their faces with his number and name, and the crowd chants after every big save. His popularity has risen to such a height that he gets cheered when he arrives in the crease… for warmups.
