GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) _ Kenny Miller scored in the 90th minute to maintain Rangers’ perfect start to its Scottish title defense with a 2-1 victory at Hamilton, and Celtic also went to 4-0 by overcoming Hearts 3-0.

Miller has scored in each of the defending champion’s four league matches.

Croatia striker Nikica Jelavic headed in his first Rangers goal in the sixth minute, but teammate Madjid Bougherra turned the ball into his own net 50 minutes later. American midfielder Maurice Edu played the entire game.

James Forrest put Celtic ahead in the 28th by knocking in Daryl Murphy’s cross from close range.

Shaun Maloney scored a second in the 44th. In second-half stoppage time, substitute Paddy McCourt beat three players before sending the ball over goalkeeper Marian Kello.


MADRID (AP) _ Defending La Liga champion Barcelona lost its first Spanish league home game since May 2009 when Nelson Valdez scored in each half to give promoted Hercules a 2-0 victory.

The Paraguayan forward beat Victor Valdes in the 27th minute, then latched on to Tiago Filipe’s centering pass from a swift counterattack in the 59th.

Valdes and Javier Marscherano, who made his Barcelona debut, were among six Barcelona starters and two substitutes who were in Buenos Aires on Tuesday for Argentina’s 4-1 exhibition win over Spain. Barcelona has three points from two league games.

Hercules won 3-2 in 1996-97 during its previous match at Camp Nou. Former French forward David Trezeguet was in Hercules’ starting 11 after joining from Juventus.

“A complicated year awaits us,” Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola said. “We’ll need to pick ourselves up now.”
