What’s at Stake
A chance to play for a national championship for Boise State. Yes, this game is that important to the Broncos. It’s the most daunting game on their schedule. Win it and run the table, and the Broncos will at the very least be in the thick of the discussions. For the Hokies, it’s a chance to make an early statement, something they haven’t done recently.
Boise State’s defensive line, which has two 290-pound tackles in Billy Winn and Chase Baker, against a Virginia Tech offensive line with three returning starters, but replacing its two best blockers from last season. Hokies TBs Ryan Williams and Darren Evans don’t need much room to be effective.

Boise State: WR Titus Young is a potential game-breaker on offense and special teams, an area where Virginia Tech usually excels.
Virginia Tech: QB Tyrod Taylor has excellent mobility, a solid arm and 28 career starts. But can he be accurate enough against a good defense to make the Hokies’ offense balanced?
