Metropolitan police on Friday issued a description of an unidentified man found fatally shot in the Northeast neighborhood of Deanwood.

Officers responded to the 5100 block of Jay Street Northeast around 4:15 p.m. Thursday for a report of gunshots, police spokesman Officer Paul Metcalf said. When they arrived, they found an unconscious man with gunshot wounds.

The man, not identified, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police said Friday the victim was a black male, 16-20 years old, about 5-feet-11-inches or 6-feet tall, weighing about 165 pounds, with a medium complexion and multiple tattoos. The tattoos are on both the man’s arms and his neck and include the following: tattooed on the right forearm is “RIP Pluck,” tattooed on the left forearm is “Wease,” “Lifes a Gamble” and “KAT” with a halo above.

No suspect description was available Thursday.

Pending an official ruling in the case, the killing will be the 43rd reported homicide in the District this year, Officer Metcalf said.
