LEXINGTON, OHIO (AP) - Giorgio Pantano will replace Charlie Kimball in this Sunday's IndyCar Series race at Mid-Ohio.
Kimball fractured the fifth metacarpal in his right hand last week in an accident while testing. Tests in Indianapolis over the weekend revealed he would not be able to race at Mid-Ohio and the change was announced Tuesday.
Pantano has made two previous IndyCar starts for Chip Ganassi Racing, in 2005 at Sonoma and Watkins Glen. He has started five career IndyCar races, with a best finish of fourth in 2005 at Watkins Glen.
Kimball is 14th in the IndyCar Series standings.
