College football: D.C. area Week 3 preview

VIRGINIA (2-0, 0-0 ACC) at GEORGIA TECH (1-1, 0-1 ACC)

When: 3:30

Where: Bobby Dodd Stadium, Atlanta

TV/radio: ESPNU, 570 AM

Outlook: Virginia leads series 17-16-1 and won last year’s meeting 24-21 in Charlottesville. The home team has won five of the past seven games in this series as the Cavaliers play their conference opener before finishing September with two nonleague games. Senior tailback Perry Jones, held to 66 yards on 22 carries in the first two games, needs 91 yards to crack the top 20 on Virginia’s career rushing list. Thanks to their triple-option offense, the Yellow Jackets predictably lead the ACC (and rank fifth nationally) in rushing offense with 330.5 yards per game after two weeks.
