While McLean receives recognition around the United States for being home to politicians, attorneys, lobbyists and broadcasters, many area residents know this Northern Virginia community for its amenities.
Not only is McLean one of the closest suburbs to downtown Washington, it also is near Tysons Corner and has its own array of shops and restaurants. Tree-lined streets lead to homes that have rested among this neighborhood’s rolling hills for decades as well as to small clusters of new communities.
One of the newest communities in McLean is Chesterbrook Manor, a cluster of 12 single-family homes tucked along a quiet cul-de-sac. Madison Homes, which has been building homes in the Washington area since 1992, is building the homes on lots of 9,313 to 19,009 square feet. The homes, which are base-priced from the upper $1,500,000s to $1,700,000, have five bedrooms, five full baths and a powder room on three finished levels.
Standard features include Hardiplank concrete siding with a stone or brick water table and accents; a bluestone front walkway, front porch and patio or rear deck; and Craftsman-style garage doors.
Inside, the homes have 9-foot ceilings on all three levels; custom-stained and sanded-in-place hardwood flooring throughout the main level, upper hall, master bedroom and sitting room; oak stairs; two-zone heating and air conditioning; a gas water heater; a security system; 7-foot interior doors; bronze dual-pane windows; and a stained, solid-wood Craftsman-style entry door with sidelights.
Each home has Craftsman-style cove and crown molding in the dining room, a direct-vent gas fireplace in the family room and a mudroom with built-in cubicles off the garage. The kitchens include 42-inch wood cabinets with undercabinet lighting, a granite center island, two disposals and stainless steel appliances, including a dual-fuel range with six burners and a convection oven, a side-by-side refrigerator, a microwave-and-wall-oven combination, a two-zone wine refrigerator, and a dishwasher.
The baths all have granite counters, and the master suite includes a sitting room, two walk-in closets, recessed lighting and a luxury bath with a free-standing cast-iron soaking tub, a separate shower and custom tile work. The finished lower level in each home includes an oversized recreation room, recessed lighting, a guest bedroom, a full bath and extensive storage closets. Some of the homes also have a game/media room.
The home on Lot 1, at 6541 Divine St., has 6,122 square feet. This home has a front porch with columns and a foyer with columns that frame the entrances to the formal living room on one side and the formal dining room on the other. The living room has double windows on two walls.
A central staircase leads to the upper and lower levels. The main level has a corner study with windows on two walls. Nearby are a coat closet and a powder room.
The family room features a fireplace flanked by windows. Columns separate the family room from the open central hall and the breakfast room, which has multiple windows and a glass door to a patio. The breakfast area is open to the center-island kitchen. A mudroom links the kitchen and garage.
Upstairs, the master suite covers half of the upper level and includes a sitting room with a double window; a spacious bedroom with multiple windows; two walk-in closets; and a luxurious bath with two vanities, a corner soaking tub and an oversized shower.
The upper level has three more bedrooms, each with a walk-in closet and a private full bath. A laundry room completes this level.
The finished lower level has a recreation room, a media or exercise room, a bedroom with a walk-in closet and a full bath, and a storage room.
