    Gunmen killed at least 45 people in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city, after the assassination of a prominent lawmaker set off a cycle of revenge attacks, officials said Tuesday. Dozens of vehicles and shops were set ablaze as security forces struggled to regain control of the city.

    Pakistan death toll rises after lawmaker's killing

    At least 54 people were killed Tuesday and Wednesday in Karachi — Pakistan's commercial capital and largest city — when gunfire and arson erupted in revenge attacks after prominent lawmaker Raza Haider was assassinated.
