The note was from Bryant when she was a teenager who missed her boyfriend, Mike Rogers, Nolan’s grandfather, while at a church camp. She wrote him a note on a paper towel, put it in the bottle and threw the bottle in the lake in 1970. It apparently washed up on this island, where it had rested in the woods for years.
