This Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 photo shows a 45-foot-tall icicle created after Garrick Moreland, a tree trimmer, climbed into a tree with a hose and turned on the water when temperatures dropped a few weeks ago at his mother Katherine Ragel’s home near St. Elmo, Ill. The idea originally came from Ragel's late husband Alan Ragel, who liked to build smaller icicles along the driveway. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
