ADVANCED FOR RELEASE SATURDAY, DECEMBER 26, 2015 Jose Quiros often takes his dog, Hercules, for a walk in the Stratton Open Space, an area that has lots of memories for him. It is an area where his wife, Ksenia Quiros, loved to spend time and the place where she died last April. Quiros was missing for three days before her body was found, only a couple of weeks after her cadet son, Alexandre Quiros, died at the Air Force Academy of an apparent suicide. Quiros was standing in an area with a memorial bench will be placed near a reservoir in the open space on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2015. Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
