File-Arts educator and Democratic legislative candidate Roger Montoya, of Velarde, N.M. pictured here in 2008 at the San Juan Elementary in Okhay Owingeh, N.M., has acknowledged his participation in two pornographic films in the 1980s as a college student and indicated he has no intention of dropping out of the race. Montoya said Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, that he is not proud of it but believes the experience helped him better understand exploitation and the need to provide opportunities for youths. The state Republican Party called on Montoya to withdraw from the state House race against GOP candidate Justin Salazar-Torrez of Espanola, while prominent Democrats rallied behind Montoya.
