In this photograph released by the National Transportation Safety Board on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, the detached navigation bridge of the sunken freighter El Faro is seen on the sea floor, 15,000-feet deep near the Bahamas. The freighter sunk on Oct. 1, 2015, after losing engine power and getting caught in a Category 4 hurricane. All 33 crew members aboard were lost at sea. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
