If exploding — or hot-enough-to-press-your-trousers — laptop batteries aren’t enough to worry about, here’s a scary thought, courtesy of Ziff-Davis tech journalist (and, full disclosure, a former colleague) Evan Schuman:
Opinion: When Amazon.com crashed for almost 2 hours on Monday, it might have meant little were it not for the fact that a major industry report had predicted it just three days earlier.
What does the Amazon hang-up have to do with Google? The prospect of other large Web sites, including Google’s new e-commerce one, crashing under heavy loads. I’m not saying it will happen, but Mr. Schuman’s analysis certainly bears some consideration.
