HP and its consumer Compaq brand are showing off a bunch of new stuff, details of which can be found at here for the HP models and here for the Compaq in the bunch. (Not all the info is there, such as pricing, but the basics are.)

According to an announcement from the firm, here’s the skinny on the new consumer portables:

New Consumer Notebook Design: Inspired by design trends in fashion, furniture and art, the new HP Pavilion dv2000 Entertainment Notebook PC and Compaq Presario V3000 Notebook PC make a statement with HP Imprint, adding style and sophistication to today’s personal computing. In addition, it is now easy to personalize HP notebooks, desktops or monitors with PC skins from SkinIt (tm). With hundreds of fun designs to choose from, HP’s new PC Skins offer high-quality, vibrant images that are simple to apply and easy to remove and replace.

I saw these new machines in a demo the other day. Not enough time to review, but more than enough time to be seriously impressed. This is good stuff, and I hope to get my hands on it soon enough for a review. Meanwhile, check out the Web site and wait’ll these show up at a dealer such as Best Buy. I think you’ll be impressed, too.
