Peter Pan peanut butter is expected to be back on grocery store shelves this month with a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee designed to ease concerns over the product’s recent salmonella scare.

The February salmonella outbreak kept Peter Pan off shelves for more than six months.

The first shipments are due to leave the factory next week. The peanut butter will appear on shelves as soon as stores can stock it, according to ConAgra Foods, the Omaha, Neb., manufacturer.

The peanut butter will have the same name but a new label.

ConAgra says demand for Peter Pan has been strong. According to its internal figures, about 80 percent of the people who bought Peter Pan before the recall plan to purchase it again. The top 30 grocery chains that have carried Peter Pan plan to restock it, according to ConAgra.

“Consumer and retailer demand for Peter Pan has been very strong, and we couldn’t be more appreciative of their loyal following,” said David Palfenier, president of ConAgra’s grocery division.

ConAgra pulled Peter Pan from the shelves in February after the peanut butter was found to be infected with salmonella bacteria. The outbreak sickened 625 people in 47 states.
